Developments and Projects
Shettleston Housing Association has been building and improving houses for the past 30 years and it is our intention to continue to improve, re-invest and build new housing in the foreseeable future. Our Development Strategy concentrates on:
- Improving the core of Shettleston along the Shettleston Road corridor where we are currently developing a new scheme of 27 houses at Vesalius Street on the frontage to Shettleston Road. We are carrying out a feasibility study of a site between Fenella Street and Shettleston Road where we already own part of theite and we hope to develop a further 27 houses including extra care for the elderly.
- Assisting with the provision of houses for GHA tenants where their property is to be demolished. All the new properties in the Vesalius Street development have been pre-allocated to GHA tenants whose homes in Pettigrew Street are to be demolished. We hope to provide a range of new housing on the site currently being cleared for demolition at Pettigrew Street/ Balintore Street.
- Meeting the requirement of clients with particular needs and we have incorporated 2 wheelchair houses in the development at Vesalius Street
- Completing the modernisation and upgrading of the steel houses in Springboig.
Our Strategy and Development Funding Plan identifies a total investment requirement over the next 3 years of £31.8m but we require the support and commitment of Glasgow City Council and other partners to secure this level of investment for the area.
Progress update on Phase 2
Phase 2 has started on-site and is making great progress. Concrete floor slabs are being poured and the construction of the first superstructure has begun, whilst work on the water, gas and telecoms infrastructure is also going on.
