Shettleston Housing Association has been building and improving houses for the past 30 years and it is our intention to continue to improve, re-invest and build new housing in the foreseeable future. Our Development Strategy concentrates on:
- Improving the core of Shettleston along the Shettleston Road corridor where we are currently developing a new scheme of 27 houses at Vesalius Street on the frontage to Shettleston Road. We are carrying out a feasibility study of a site between Fenella Street and Shettleston Road where we already own part of the site and we hope to develop a further 27 houses including extra care for the elderly.
- Assisting with the provision of houses for GHA tenants where their property is to be demolished. All the new properties in the Vesalius Street development have been pre-allocated to GHA tenants whose homes in Pettigrew Street are to be demolished. We hope to provide a range of new housing on the site currently being cleared for demolition at Pettigrew Street/ Balintore Street.
- Meeting the requirement of clients with particular needs and we have incorporated 2 wheelchair houses in the development at Vesalius Street
- Completing the modernisation and upgrading of the steel houses in Springboig.
Our Strategy and Development Funding Plan identifies a total investment requirement over the next 3 years of £31.8m but we require the support and commitment of Glasgow City Council and other partners to secure this level of investment for the area.
