Who We Are
Shettleston's staff are responsible for the day to day operation of
the Association and for the implementation of the decisions and
policies of the Management Committee.
The staff team is divided into a number of functional areas each
headed by a senior staff member. Details of the senior staff team,
including brief biographies, are set out below:
Chris joined the Association as a Housing Officer in 1982, subsequently became Housing Manager and then Director in 1989. From 1989 to 2000 Chris served as a member of the Council of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations. He was Chair of the Federation from 1995 to 1998.
Chris was seconded to Glasgow Housing Association from June 2000 to December 2002, where he headed up the original Investment Team. He returned to the Association in January 2003.
Chris was born in Edinburgh but was raised and educated in Australia, obtaining a BA (Hons) in History from the University of Western Australia (1971-75). Following his return to Scotland in 1976 he obtained the Diploma in Housing Administration from the University of Stirling (1980-82).
Jim is a Chartered Accountant with 32 years qualified experience spent in industry and commerce, including his present post as Finance Manager of Shettleston Housing Association.
Jim is a native of Greenock and trained with Watson and Galbraith, Chartered Accountants, in the town before qualifying and working for 8 years at John G Kincaid & Co Ltd, Marine Engineers, also in Greenock. Since 1984, he has worked in Glasgow, initially at the Denholm Group and then Bishop and Robertson Chalmers, Solicitors, before joining Shettleston HA in 2000.
June began her housing career with the Scottish Special Housing Association (which subsequently became Scottish Homes). She joined Shettleston in 1990 as a Housing Officer and progressed through internal promotion, becoming Housing Manager in 2001.
June obtained the Diploma in Housing Studies from Glasgow University in 2001.
Performance and Compliance Manager
Margaret joined SHA as its Performance and Compliance Manager in September 2004 and later took on the management of the Development Section in November 2006. Margaret has an M.A. Honours in Geography and is a qualified town planner with almost 30 years experience of working in a variety of housing organisations.
She started her career in town planning but following her real interest was motivated to move into the housing profession. In 1992 she became the first Director of Ferguslie Park Housing Association in Paisley where she oversaw substantial development and growth of the housing stock. She worked at a senior level in the former Scottish Homes and Glasgow City Council and also as a free-lance consultant in housing.
Corporate Services Manager
I started my career as an Administration Officer with a Clothing manufacturer in 1976. I then took a complete career change to become Manager of a Restaurant and Function Suite in 1977 for 15 years.
I again in 1977 changed my career to start as an Administration Officer with Glasgow City Council and subsequently transferred to GHA as Community Housing Manager in 2003. Through a successful transfer of the local housing stock I am enjoying new challeges in my new role as Corporate Services Manager.
Joe Whitley began his career in 1979 when he started working with the South of Scotland Electricity Board, on the transmission and distribution network. He moved to the Property Services Agency in 1985 where he gained extensive experience and qualifications in the building services field. Thereafter he worked with Glasgow City's Architects department for 15 years, latterly with the newly formed GHA. He joined Shettleston Housing Association in 2004 to take over the reinvestment and maintenance portfolio. Joe became Maintenance Manager in 2006.
