Money advice at Shettleston Housing Association:

Shettleston Housing association has acquired big lottery funding for five years (starting July 2014) to provide a Money Advice service to both the tenants and residents of Shettleston. Experienced advisors, Bernadette (Financial Inclusion Co-coordinator) has been assisting the patrons of Shettleston for the last couple of years successfully and are happy to make an appointment for you. Our Financial Inclusion Team is here to help by providing a free, confidential and independent service.


The Financial Inclusion Team can:

  • Help with Budgeting
  • Help to access a Bank Account
  • Help to reduce Gas and Electricity arrears
  • Help with choosing House Insurance
  • Maximise Income
  • Reduce Rent Arrears
  • Negotiate with Creditors
  • Set up repayment programmes with Creditors and offer advice on all forms of debt relief available
  • Access charitable grant for Household goods


Debt and financial planning:

Bernadette has practical experience in dealing with every formal and informal debt remedy in Scotland. They are accredited by the 'Accountant in Bankruptcy' to provide assistance to clients making applications for their own bankruptcies and debt payment plans through the Debt Arrangement Scheme.

They can provide free/confidential advice on a variety of financial issues and are also trained to assist clients prepare financial plans to assist them with their budgeting skills.

The Financial Inclusion team are here to help the whole of the Shettleston community and offer various outreach surgeries in the community:



Shettleston Library, Tuesdays, 1:30pm - 4pm (appointment based)

Parkhead Foodbank at the Calton Church, Wednesdays, 2pm -4pm (drop-in)

Shettleston Foodbank, Killin Street Church, Fridays, 2pm - 4pm (drop-in)  


They also take appointment at Shettleston Housing Association's office and can be contacted directly on 0141 763 2996 or 0141 763 2812 to book appointments and answer any of your queries.
